On September 25th, the 26th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) of the Intelligent Transportation Division of the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)was held in Bilbao, Spain.
Since its inception in 2010, the IEEE Outstanding ITS Application Award has been awarded annually to the only individual or team that has made a significant and outstanding contribution to the application of ITS-related technologies to the practical fields, to promote, inspire and publicize significant application contributions and outstanding achievements in ITS-related fields.
Adhering to the scientific research concept of combining theory and practice, Prof. Hong Chen and her team have been committed to promoting basic and applied fundamental research at the intersection of multiple disciplines such as automation, artificial intelligence and automotive engineering, and have made great contributions in the field of predictive control theory and applications:
(1)The stability and robustness of nonlinear model predictive control are rigorously demonstrated, and an accelerated optimization computation method with domain knowledge enhancement is proposed, which lays a theoretical foundation for on-board implementation and engineering applications of predictive control;
(2) The core technologies of dynamic optimization and coordination of vehicle movement under open and complex traffic environment and active stability expansion control under extreme working conditions are broken through, and highly reliable automotive predictive safety control and predictive energy-saving and emission reduction control systems are developed, which have significantly improved driving safety, and at the same time the energy consumption and pollutant emissions of the whole vehicle are reduced through the optimized control of the power system.
(3) A set of tools for visualizing and evaluating the whole chain of testing and evaluation of automatic driving systems from theory to practical application are developed, and the academic research and ground application of high-level automatic driving are actively promoted, and the systems and equipments we have developed have been applied to a number of enterprises, such as FAW, Dongfeng, SAIC, BYD and so on.
In addition, Prof. Hong Chen was elected as IEEE Fellow, Fellow of the Chinese Society of Automation and Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers of China, and served as an editorial board member of several IEEE journals. She has actively organized international academic activities, created the Special Committee on Vehicle Control and Intelligence of the Chinese Association of Automation (CAA), and promoted the deep cross-fertilization between academia and industry, information science and automotive science, as well as international cooperation and communication. She served as the General Chair of the 5th IFAC E-CoSM (2018), the Chair of CAA TC Vehicle Control and Intelligence Conference (2017-), and organized the "Girls in Control" symposium in IEEE CDC 2020 and ACC 2021.
