​The 6th Shanghai-Stuttgart-Symposium on Automotive and Powertrain Technology

The 6th Shanghai-Stuttgart-Symposium on Automotive and Powertrain Technology (SSS 2022) is held on 1-2 December 2022 in Crowne Plaza Shanghai Anting

Jointly organized by Tongji University School of Automotive Studies and University of Stuttgart, Institute of Automotive Engineering (IFS), managed by Nanjing Stuttgart Joint Exhibition Ltd.,the 6th Shanghai-Stuttgart-Symposium on Automotive and Powertrain Technology (SSS 2022) is held on 1-2 December 2022 inCrowne Plaza Shanghai Anting.

As a platform originating in Sino-German academic exchange, the sessions of the symposium are chaired by the Dean of School of Automotive Studies of Tongji University, Prof. Zhang Lijun and by Prof. Dr.-Ing Andreas Wagner, FKFS, Chairman of the Board of Management and University of Stuttgart, IFS, Chair of Automotive Engineering, with Co-chair Dr. Wu Xudong.

The opening session was honored with greetings and well wishes from Prof. Lei Xinghui, Vice President of Tongji University, Dr. Wolfgang Holtkamp, Stuttgart University Senior Advisor for Foreign Affairs in the President’s Office, Mr. Zheng Guanghong. Shanghai Municipal Government Director of the Social Development Division of Science and Technology Commission and Mr. Michael Kleiner, State Government of Baden-Württemberg, Director of Ministry of Economics.

The two-day lecture program offers 5 keynote speeches. Professor Ming Pingwen from Tongji University give a speech of “Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Activities in China”. Dr. Zhou Wei, Vehicle Development Executive Director of SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. shared the transformation of SAIC Volkswagen. “Experience and Visions of Vehicle Aerodynamics Development in China” is the topic of Professor Pang Jiabin from Tongji University. Dr. Lian Yubo, Executive Vice President of BYD Group shared the innovative development of BYD Intelligent New Energy Vehicle under the new situation. Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg gave a speech of “Extending the Successful Modular Toolkit Strategy to Software Development”.

Dr. Lian Yubo is appointed as the Adjunct Professor of Tongji University School of Automotive Studies. The appointment ceremony is arranged following.

The panel discussion on the second day afternoon is extremely attractive. Chaired by Prof Cai Liming from Tongji University, the panel discussion is targeted at “Future Development and Application of Toolkits for the Automotive Industry”. Panelists, Prof. Zhang Lijun, Dean of Tongji University School of Automotive, Prof. Dr.-Ing Andreas Wagner, FKFS, Chairman of the Board of Management and University of Stuttgart, IFS, Chair of Automotive Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Dr. Zhou Wei, Zhang Junyi,Partner Auto Lead of Oliver Wyman, exchanged their opinions from science, industry and investment aspects.

9 breakout sessions combine 48 technical speeches on the topic of “Fuel Cell”, “Hydrogen and e-fuel”, “Battery”, “Dynamics and Control of Intelligent Vehicle System”, “Functional safety of intelligent vehicle system”, “Test and Evaluation of Intelligent Vehicle System”, “Wind Tunnel and Measurement Technology”, “New Vehicle Development” and “Vehicle Aeroacoustics”. Organized by each session chair, the speakers and delegates had deep communication on related technical topics.

A farewell speech was given by Hans-Christian Reuss, Board member of IFS, Institute of Automotive Engineering at University of Stuttgart, and FKFS, Research Institute of Automotive Engineering and Powertrain Systems Stuttgart. Except a short summary of this year’s symposium, Prof. Reuss also invite all speakers, delegates and everyone in related industries to join next edition of SSS in Shanghai next autumn.

Due to the situation of prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, the 6th Shanghai-Stuttgart-Symposium on Automotive and Powertrain Technology (SSS 2022) is a hybrid meeting. Speakers from overseas and speakers who cannot travel to Shanghai gave speeches online and did live communication with chairs and delegates online. Delegates also can chose to attend meeting offline or online. In total, SSS 2022 invited 63 speakers and 546 delegates, including 303 participated offline and 243 online.
