2023 Summer School of SAS in Italy

Based on the Florence Overseas Campus of Tongji University, the School of Automotive Studies designed and developed a future-oriented and humanities-based practice course project of sustainable transportation. It integrated the rich educational resources such as art, architecture and innovation of design in Florence, and given full play to its advantages in humanities and social sciences and design innovation education. In order to expand students ' international vision, stimulate their enthusiasm for learning, give students creative passion and enrich their imagination and creativity. And 31 students from the School of Automotive Studies and the Student Affairs Office participated in the project.



Dr. Wangqiong and Dr. Michele Amedei from the University of Florence led the students to visit the city, including the Old Palace and the Basilica of the Virgin Mary. Students learned about the economic and social development of Italy and Florence during the Renaissance. Dr. Cristiano Giometti of the University of Florence brought a wonderful lecture on Italian painting and sculpture in the Renaissance to the teachers and students. And it provided a rich theoretical knowledge foundation for students to learn design later. At the same time, the students learned about Italy from a new perspective. Dr. Francesco Chiti of the University of Florence brought a wonderful course to the students. The professor presented the prospect of autonomous driving technology to the students with rich and colorful cases and concise and vivid language. 'Mobile classroom ' was also a major feature of this project. Teacher Li Yanlong explained to the students many classic modeling cars encountered on the way of study, so that the students can have a deeper understanding of the similarities and differences between Chinese and European on automobile styling, and the history of automobile development.
